The Monastery of Seiça
In 2018, I was commissioned by the Friends of the Convent of Santa Maria de Seiça Association for a special mission: to create an illustrated book translating the complex history of this National Monument for local children. At the time, the building was in ruins, and the project aimed to engage younger generations in the fight for its preservation. I transformed centuries of dates, kings, and religious orders into a light, colorful, and accessible narrative.
Beyond the illustrations, I visited schools to share the story personally, connecting the community to its heritage. In 2024, the monastery was restored and reopened, making this project a living testament to how art can aid in the appreciation and rescue of historical heritage.
